Avocado Guild AMA Summary Recap with Shin Chan Community
We held a live AMA with CEO & Co-Founder, Brendan and Head of Community, Sunny from Avocado Guild on 16th December 9:00 PM (UTC+8). Here’s the recap for those who missed it.
Introduction
Serene | Shin Chan: welcome to our community.
Before we start our AMA, Could you please kindly introduce yourselves to our community? How did you get into the blockchain gaming industry?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: Hi everyone! I’m Brendan the CEO and Co-Founder of Avocado Guild.
Avocado Guild emerged from an opportunity identified by the founders, where blockchain based games had the ability to improve the lives of communities all over the world and provided a lifeline for some who were badly affected by Covid-19. Through play-to-earn, the unbanked and under privileged now have the ability to make real world positive changes to their lives based on their actions in the virtual world. Avocado Guild was then founded to be an umbrella of support, providing onboarding of ordinary gamers, their family and friends into the opportunities in blockchain gaming.
We are proudly backed by Animoca Brands, Three Arrows Capital, QCP Soteria, and more top tier investors in the space.
We are considered The largest guilds in the P2E space with over 10,000 active scholars enjoying the P2E opportunities offered by Axie Infinity. We have earnt over 68m SLP since we started in July 2021.
We have also partnered with top-tier upcoming P2E games like Thetan Arena, Big Time Games, Sipher, Elpis Battle, Cyball and Revv Racing. We will develop the P2E ecosystem further into the future.
We want to be able to provide more opportunities to our growing scholar community. More games, better games will all help grow the industry and onboard more players/user to web3
Serene | Shin Chan: Thank you for the introduction.
As a gaming guild, how does Avocado Guild work? What’s the difference between Avocado Guild and other guilds?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: As a gaming guild, I’m sure many are aware now… We acquire NFT gaming assets in games and lend them out to our community of scholars for earning yield in P2E (play to earn) games
We want to create a thriving community of new generation gamers that can benefit from gaming in ways that were not previously possible, and we want to help them navigate the difficult landscape of crypto understanding
What makes our guild different is that our revenue sharing and value capture model is different. Our Guild/DAO retains higher revenue than that of other prominent guilds. This value flows or accrues back to future $AVG holders, allowing Avocado Guild to bring more play-to-earn opportunities to non-crypto audiences much faster than other guilds in this space.
We also feel that it is not a one guild to rule them all situation. The more guilds there are in the space the better. Most of the guilds are here to help build up the space!
Avocado Guild’s goal is to provide more for many and hence we are quite focused on growth as demonstrated by our 10,000+ guild members/scholars, being the largest in the space.
Other than just focusing on growth, we also give back to the community. We align our community with our vision which is to help the ecosystem and help the scholars themselves.
There are many opportunities in blockchain, gaming like everything is always one of the first adoption of new tech and it’s capabilities.
We have conducted over 8 offline events for our scholar’s local communities as a way of supporting those that support us. More will come every month.
We believe in community first and foremost, so even prior to building out our technology, we set up the community framework to ensure that the community has enough support as we scale.
Serene | Shin Chan: Great. ☺️ Could you please give more details on the #P2E mechanism in Avocado Guild? (As you have three different aspects of #P2E.) What P2E games do you have now?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: The P2E gaming industry is still in it’s infant stage, with an untapped gaming population of over 1B we are only scratching the surface.
Through these initiatives, Avocado Guild evolved and set out three philosophies to Play2Enrich, PLay2Educate and Play2Empower the community so they can have a better understanding of what Web3 technology is and how it can benefit their lives. If you all would like to learn more about our offline initiatives please visit our medium blog to learn about what we do. https://medium.com/@avocadoguild
We are excited to bring more P2E opportunities to our scholars, we have officially partnered with Thetan Arena, Big Time Games, Sipher, Elpis Battle, Revv Racing, Axie Infinity and many more.
Many more to come. We have invested in others, but some are at their earliest stage of development. I think we will see more in Q2 2022
We want to create an environment where going to work is fun and rewarding
But, only if they want it to be work… otherwise it could just be an activity they do with their friends that now gives them the opportunity to earn, learn and enjoy their time.
Serene | Shin Chan: How do you see the P2E gaming industry, the present and the future? How will this vision have an impact on the development of Avocado Guild? Any upcoming plans to share with our community?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: Major players like Ubisoft and Electronic Arts are beginning to venture into the P2E space, and we expect them to eventually move into this space.
I feel that alot of the P2E games are still trying to figure out what economics work and how to combine fun games into games that are also financially rewarding. We are seeing different approaches to this, from Axie to Thetan and other games are looking at these games to learn and understand what might work and what might not
Avocado will also learn along with the games, we will invest in games and help with their development through providing insight based on what we see, our understanding of the landscape and also provide some scholars for testing purposes
🥑 wants to support the ecosystem of P2E games, but at the same time by providing scholars access to NFTs in a variety of different genre games in the near future, we will be able to derisk against one game alone
We should start to see the emergence of guild 2.0 where each major guild will branch off and become specialists in their own fields. We expect to see an integration between defi and gamefi for all guilds.
I expect the future of funding for upcoming games to be funded and supported by guilds as they provide more value to the gaming devs than traditional VCs. Guild can also be seen as digital banks for it’s community members and offer crypto loans. At least for Avocado guild, that’s our plan down the line.
We will continue to invest in new games and NFTs in games with yield generating opportunities
Develop solutions to scale our community agnostically amongst the current and upcoming games
Begin transition into a DAO so that we can exist for the community and be owned by the community, whom can play a part in proposal and governance and own a little slice of Avocado
Develop a strong education program to empower our scholars with the knowledge to navigate the new digital frontier brought on by P2E and blockchain.
Twitter Section Begins:
Q1. Avocado Dao is the world’s largest gaming community, forming to build a better future through peer-to-peer blockchain gaming. So, tell us more about the Avocado Dao and how gamers will be able to participate. What will the members of the community vote on?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: Crypto has an exponential learning curve but it presents many opportunities. Gamers or anyone that is interested in P2E can join Avocado Guild. The Avocado DAO will give back more to the community which it serves by allowing for future proposal and governance via the ownership of the $AVG token. Members of the community can first begin voting on where to allocate resources for community based humanitarian events and or support for natural disasters. Then for something higher level as we develop the DAO out even more and build out the technology, we can look into voting for scholarship incentive programs, types of partnerships that can lead to the creation of different partnership token vaults. Eventually leading to decisions like technology enhancements and helping navigate the future direction of the DAO
Q2. I searched your website and Medium articles for a roadmap, but I couldn’t find one.Would you mind telling us about your plans for the rest of the year? Also, what are some of the objectives or milestones you hope to achieve by the end of2021,and how will they benefit your community?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: Most of the information will be available on our whitepaper which we will be releasing later today or tomorrow =)
Part of our roadmap was to have over 10k scholars and we achieved it. We want to do a token launch before the end of the year and that’s in the works. We want to build out the basic version of our scholar dashboard for scholars to use agnostically across games. We want to begin the early development of partnerships with other DeFi protocols for our unique token staking program
Q3. Avocado Guild is dedicated to assisting individuals who are in need. Aside from the Philippines, what other places will you be going to support? Furthermore, how can you know who is really in need?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: We are not just supporting those with need, but also helping them help themselves
We aim to support as many people as we can, we’ve chosen to first focus on Philippines and Indonesia. We are looking to expand into other countries in SEA and provide more support in terms of onboarding them into our scholarship programs and educating them on how to go across chain and play different games on different chains
We encourage our scholars to refer their friends and families who can benefit from a scholarship as well and we’ve found that this helps accelerate their onboarding and learning about what Avocado Guild does. We empower them to help those around them.
Q4. I have been impressed by the fact that you provide help to vulnerable communities and launch humanitarian aid services. So, I would like to know, exactly how do you help these low-income communities? Can the platform users contribute in this section to help the community?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: We care about our scholars and feel that our guild has a responsibility to the community that supports us and made all of this possible. We help the communities not just by providing an opportunity for earning extra money to play a game… but also through the education for what is possible through blockchain technology. We help open the doorway to crypto for a lot of our scholars through providing them with exposure to crypto tokens and opportunities. If you want to hop on our discord, I think our community would be more than happy to help answer some of your questions too!
Q5. The transition to AvocadoDAO,” you said. What is AvocadoDAO, exactly? What makes the Avocado Guild so worried about this change? Is it likely to happen at some point? What does it mean to the average community member?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: Yes, we are transitioning to Avocado DAO (AKA AvocaDAO)
By becoming a DAO and introducing $AVG tokens to the ecosystem, we are able to better reward and support our community for their efforts and contributions. Likewise those that owns $AVG tokens, especially scholars have a sense of ownership
They can eventually influence DAO decision making and benefit from the value passed down through Avocado DAO activities
We are aiming to tokenize before the end of the year, more detail to come soon. To the average community member it means more opportunities to earn, learn and better navigate the world of Crypto.
Telegram Live AMA Begins:
Q6. What are your income and value capture models? Does the guild or DAO plan to hold more revenue than the other guilds? And what are the benefits of those future AVG holders?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: our income is higher than other guilds and we also have many more scholars than other guilds. Our value capture is in the operations of our guilds e.g. in Axie we earn in SLP that can be converted. In other games, their native tokens. At the moment the plan is for all the value to pass back down onto token holders. The future token holders can benefit from our partnership vaults, our vaults in different game operations, and a little more down the line, participation and reward in voting and governance.
Q7. I want to congratulate you on your $18 million Avocado series A funding! I also see you are now backed by Animoca Brands, QSN and a group of well-known investors and funds. How will you use the newly appointed capital?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: Thank you for this great question! Appreciate your support! We will and have already used some of the newly appointed capital to develop better technology for our guild which has allowed us to scale to our current 5 digit size (10.5k+) scholars. Also to invest in upcoming games which we will also play a part in advising and providing our insight on economics and gameplay behaviour. We will also be expanding our current capable team to improve our operations and further scale the capabilities of Avocado in this emerging space
Q8. For the Project name, Why have You thought of naming a Fruit name: Avocado?
Can You please tell about the Reason behind naming the Project
Brendan | Avocado Guild: I’m from Australia. I love eating Avocados. Nice and oily and good for u
Q9. AvovadoDao introduces about “Play-To-Empower and Play-To-Educate”.
Can you explain what it means to play to empower and what exactly you will be educating for users? what values will you bring and how will it yield?
Brendan | Avocado Guild: We are empowering the community to learn about web3, crypto and the technology and opportunities in the space. Through knowledge they can make a difference not just to themselves but those people around them that can benefit from their knowledge. We also provide the instruments (NFTs) to help them get started without an upfront cost to them. We are there as support to help with their learning and easing their onboarding. Yield will come for $AVG token holders as the scholarship grows and more users enter the space. All the value from the activities of the DAO will eventually pass down to token holders. Crypto is difficult to understand, we try to help hold the hands of all our scholars to navigate crypto!
