We held a live AMA with Placewar, Co-Founder, Myrtle Anne Ramos from PlaceWar on 5th November 9:00 PM (UTC+8). Here’s the recap for those who missed it.

JH | ShinChan: Before the ama start, can you please introduce yourselves and the team background?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): I’ve helped hundreds of companies to benefit and transform their businesses to disrupt, adjust or scale utilizing the latest technological tools, products or help to build from scratch.

He is leading the Mega Game Studio in Taiwan/Philipines and has been in charge of the development of many successful mobile games which made to the top 10 in Appstore/ Android store, including Legion Mania, Little Empires. Ajay’s work was also endorsed by Google Editor’s Choice.

JH | ShinChan: Could you please tell us about PlaceWar in short, and Is there anything you can share us the news from PlaceWar?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): PlaceWar is a decentralised strategic play-to-earn game universe deployed on multi-chain with highly engaging artillery gameplay that allows players to create and define the outlook of the in-game world through building, battles and alliance.

PlaceWar announce completed private round of fundraising in an oversubscribed funding round of $1.8 Million from industry-leading VCs included AC Capital, AU21, Woodson Game, Exnetwork Capital, Icetea Labs, IoTex, Kyros Ventures, LD Capital, Lucid Blue Ventures, Megala Ventures, Metrix Capital, ReBlock, RoseOn, and X21.

The PlaceWar IDO on RedKite & Gamefi is scheduled for November 12, 2021.

AMA Twitter Section Begins:

Q1: Players can invade other Pixels in Conquest Mode, loot their resources, and force them to join their painting… Is it possible for me to defend my Pixel as a player?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): Yes, you must do that actually. When someone attempts to attack your pixel land, what you need is a Defender, which is also a NFT, to protect your land. You can purchase or craft Defenders just like tanks through our marketplace. I assume that you wouldn’t be online 24/7 so there is good news for you that Defender can self-retaliate to any attacks. Do get the best Defenders on your side as that’s the only thing to keep you from being looted. You can acquire many Pixels as you please, but a Pixel without the guard of Defenders is like a free farm for other predators out there.

Q2: Can you tell us more about NFT Bridge? Will this bridge also allow players to import NFT from other blockchains into the PlaceWar ecosystem? Can I share my land reward with friends or anyone I would like to share in Placedonia?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): Yes, that’s correct. An NFT Bridge is able to support the cross-chain transfer of the same NFT asset. NFT will be locked up on the native blockchain and an NFT with the same token ID will be minted on the destination blockchain. When you wish to transfer the NFT back to the native blockchain, the minted NFT will be burnt so there will be only one existence of the same NFT at the same time across all blockchains. As for the Placedonia question, currently we don’t actually have that team mechanism yet. But you are making a good point, and yes we can make it clear for those who are in an alliance can have a clan or something similar and have its internal treasury and revenue sharing mechanism which can work like mini DAOs.

Q3: #GameFi is now attracting everyone in the crypto world. With the mix of entertainment and benefits we can get in GameFi Play-To-Earn games, even non-gamers are interested. Is PlaceWar also compatible for Non Gamers in the crypto space? Will it be restricted to gamers?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): GameFi is the first ever crypto product that has the potential to go mass adoption. There’s one thing I’d like to correct you that is GameFi projects today are actualLy more for non-gamers rather than gamers, as it’s now more about its internal economy logic rather than the gameplay itself. It’s actually not a bad thing for market penetration as it might be easier to convert non-gamers to light gamers with light, simple gameplay and opportunities to play and earn at the same time. We wouldn’t really struggle on the nature of audience as we believe we are making PlaceWar appeal to the majority

Q4: For a gamer with the idea of investing in blockchain games, it can be a bit risky. So does a beginner like me need any special skills to play in PlaceWar?How does PlaceWar bridge this to attract more traditional players and educate about the benefits of blockchain-based gaming?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): Sure. Our core gameplay is inspired by Worms, Fortress V2, and r/place. One advantage of having this kind of nostalgic gameplay is that it is very intuitive to new players. We have sent out our demo version to about 50 non-gamers, and they were like knowing how to play from the first second. Also, it is very important that we have a good reward mechanism, space for combinations of strategies, and user generated contents so the game is addicting. We need to keep players coming back to our universe.

Q5: As we know, Placewar is NFT play-to-earn game. However, a lot of P2E games attract users on the premise of making money, but lacks of gameplay and storeytelling. What kind of gaming experience will placewar game to us? Do you have a team of experienced game developers?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): Sure. First of all, PlaceWar is a strategic play-to-earn social game universe deployed on multi-chain with highly engaging artillery gameplay that encourages players to create and define the outlook of the in-game world through building, battles and alliance. We started to have the idea of PlaceWar when I was working on my own guild. Just FYI I also run an Axie Infinity guild of my own in the Philippines.

I realised a few things:

1. Fun gameplay does matter, even in a gamefi project
2. To keep players coming back, you need social bonds in the game and to allow players to inject their own creation

So that’s when the PlaceWar occurred to me. With Morris and Ajay who are two very brilliant game developers and a bunch of crypto expert friends we were on our journey of PlaceWar. Our philosophy behind the design of PlaceWar is: simple, fun, user generated contents, and social bonds. As for previous experience, our dev team have over 8 years of mobile game outsourcing development experience and were once the Google editor’s choice for mobile game

Q7: I saw that PlaceWar will have its IDO on November 12, but can you give us more information about how we could participate to buy $PLACE? Also, why have you chosen to release it on GameFi and Polka Foundry?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): Because they have strong communities and have good KOLs at the same time. Most of their projects skyrockets

Q8: Do I have to pay any fees to start Placewar or are there any requirements I have to meet? How can I earn money by playing the game?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): It will not be that expensive I can assure you. Firstly, in terms of infrastructure, we implement on multiple blockchains so players can make their own choice where they wish to play the game. BSC, IoTeX, Polygon, Conflux are all very cheap to use. Secondly, we require 3 tank NFTs to start the game. However, we will give spots for free tanks each month for you to easily start your journey with us

Q9: Can PlaceWar be played for free, will there be any restrictions or requirements? What is required to start the battle system in PlaceWar, will there be an entry fee? Do I need to have a certain amount of PlaceWar tokens or in-game NFT?

Myrtle 🧿 (Will never DM first): The core gameplay of PlaceWar is close to Gunbound or Fortress V2 if you are familiar with them. It’s a turn-based artillery shooting game where you can adjust your shooting angle and power to eliminate tanks on the enemy’s side. There are PVE, 3V3 PVP and 10V10 Guild War.You can get token rewards, NFT and non-NFT resources in PVE and PVP games, you can bet on yourself and earn wagers when wining in Guild War games.

Q10: How important is the community to you? and how can we collaborate or help you for the development of the project?

Q11: I read that PlaceWar is inspired by Worm and r / place, but could you really explain to us what inspired you about the theme of those games? And why prefer them over many other themes that are possibly more attractive to users?

Q13: What things do you have on the roadmap for the remainder of 2021 and beyond? When can we expect the game to be accessible to the public and in the form of an application that can be downloaded via the AppStore/PlayStore?
